Scott Eldon Mathis

Funeral Services for Scott Mathis, 60, Clinton resident will be held 2:00 Thursday, June 1, 2023, in the Custer City First Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor David Beck. A private Burial for family only will follow in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

The family will greet guests 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.

Scott Eldon Mathis was born March 2, 1963, to Emory Leston Mathis and Gladys Marcella (Williams) Mathis in Thomas, OK and passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, in his home.

Scott was raised on the farm in Custer City, OK where he attended school and graduated in 1981. He was an outstanding basketball player and received but turned down a scholarship to Tabor University. He continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in Weatherford, receiving his master’s degree in business in 1987. He made his home in Weatherford in 1993 and moved to Clinton in 1998.

He was employed with 3M/Imation, Flexchem and Dominos Fuel. He also was a very talented sound technician and worked for the Country Jamboree, JC Cowboys, he helped at SWOSU doing the Nutcracker and the Miss Southwestern Padgett.

He was a member of the Custer City Baptist Church, Running Sound was a major hobby for him, he was a history buff, he loved watching sports, he did part time ranching and farming and served on the Independence Cemetery Board, and served on the Weokie Credit Union Board.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother, Michael, paternal grandparents, Eddie Leston and Mavie Mathis and maternal grandparents, L.D. and Edna Williams.

He is survived by two daughters, Allison Ledford, San Antonio, TX and Elizabeth Mathis, Weatherford, OK, two sisters, Joanna Beers and husband, Mike, Custer City, OK, Myra Joy Frantz and husband, Chuck, Weatherford, OK, brothers, Stephen Mathis and wife, Nancy, Jefferson, MO and Stanley Mathis and wife Tammy, Custer, City, OK.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Liam Ledford and Aspen Ledford, both of San Antonio, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
