Funeral Services for Shannon Murchison, 83, Norman resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the McFarlin United Methodist Church, Norman, OK officiated by Pastor Shyloe O'Neal. Burial will conclude 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 in the Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Shannon McShane Murchison was born along with twin brother, Park on June 1, 1933 to Jowell McCoullough Murchison and Kathleen (Johnson) Murchison in Hereford, TX and passed away early Sunday, August 7, 2016 in his Norman home. Shannon was raised in Herford and later moved to Dallas, Texas. He both attended Highland Park High School and Dallas High School where he graduated in 1951. He attended two years at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TGX and became active with the Dallas Chapter of Jaycees, being given the honor of Rookie of the year. On January 16, 1954 he married Wanda June Kelley in Clinton. He started his career in sales with Collins radio in 1954. Working his way up the corporate ladder, he moved into Avionics Sales in 1965. In 1969, Shannon established a district sales and service facility in Wichita, Kansas for avionics sales to dealers and airlines. After three years in Wichita, Shannon was given responsibility for a seven state region doubling orders to a level of $14 million annually for Collins. In 1973, Collins Radio became Rockwell Collins. In 1974, he was promoted to Aviation Director, with Rockwell Collins, responsible for sales in 69 countries in Europe Africa, and the Middle East. This promotion took Shannon and his family to England for five years. Shannon finished his working career with Rockwell Collins spending the last 20 years in Cedar Rapids as Director of Marketing for the Air Transport Division and then Vice President of Marketing in the Air Transport Division. Shannon traveled to six of the seven continents and well over on hundred different countries during his working career. On many occasions Wanda traveled with hm. H was well respected by his customer s and his fellow Collins co-workers. Shannon retired in 1997 after almost 43 years with Rockwell Collins. Shannon became a Master Mason in 1955, a member of Shrine in 1972. He enjoyed a long time involvement with the masons, Eastern Star and Shrine holding many offices. Shannon and Wanda participated in Eastern Star together for many years serving as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron on three occasions, once in Dallas and twice in Norman. In addition, Shannon also served as Worthy Patron with his daughter, Shannon in Norman. He served as Grand Representative to Brazil from Oklahoma in Eastern Star and made two trips to Brazil with Wanda for Eastern Star events. Shannon was member of El Kahir Shrine in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and served as Potentate in 1990. Shannon was also an associate member o f India Shrine in Oklahoma City, OK. Shannon was very service oriented and served in an advisory capacity to the Rainbow Girls organization in which both of his daughters were members. During his lifetime, Shannon enjoyed traveling, playing golf with his wife and daughter, playing tennis and watching OU football. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Thomas Jowell Murchison and Park McCullough Murchison, brother in law J.M. Kelley and sister in law Kathy Kelley. He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home, two daughters, Kelley Murchison Taylor and husband, David Wayne, and Shannon Murchison Decker and husband, Joel, all of Norman, brothers in law, Jack Kelley and wife Pat, Gerald Kelley, and sister in law Martha Kelley all of Clinton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Emma Leigh Decker, Andy Taylor, Allie Taylor and Annie Taylor. The family will greet guest from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel in Clinton, and they will greet guest from 6:00 P.M., till 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the Tribute Memorial Chapel in Norman. The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Shrines Hospital for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
