Graveside Services for Sharon Standingwater Byrd will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 23, 2020 in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery officiated b y Rev. Dolan Ivey and Rev. Mona Bearshield. Burial is under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A Traditional All-Night Wake Service will be held starting 8:00 P.M. Saturday, August 22, 2020 in the Hammon home. Sharon Ann (Standingwater) Byrd (Ame’ha’e’ “Flying Woman”) was born November 5, 1944 in the Old Whiteshield Camp in Hammon, OK and passed away early Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in the Great Plains Hospital in Elk City, OK. She was raised in Hammon and graduated from Hammon High School in 1962. She was active while in high school playing Basketball and helped take her team to win State. She was a pitcher for the All Indian Fast-Pitch Team; she was a member of the Cole’s Bowling Team; she traveled all over Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona playing ports. She loved to go to the Casino and play BINGO but most of all she loved being with her family and friends. She married Amos Byrd in 1964 in Butler, OK. She was a home health care giver in her early years; she was the Community Health Representative and she also for the Cheyenne and Arapaho Emergency Medical Service. She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Helen Standingwater, husband, Amos, son, Darryl Byrd; two adopted daughters, Fiona Whiteskunk and Laveda Gould and three great grandchildren. She is survived by her four children, Terry Byrd and wife, Jolene, Brenda Byrd, Janell Byrd, Wilson Standingwater, all of Hammon; adopted son, Wilbur Bullcoming and wife Edwina, of Hammon, adopted daughter, Lisa Fox and husband, Eric, Clinton; three brothers, Leland Standingwater and Nathan Standingwater, both of Hammon, Denny Standingwater and wife Dana, Seiling, OK and adopted sister, Margie Pewo. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and a host of other relatives and all her Bingo Buddies. She will be greatly missed! All of her wonderful jokes and all of her old stories will linger in our memories forever. Haho… FAMILY HAS REQUESTED FOR ALL TO PLEASE WEAR YOUR MASK!!
