Shirley Lou Bourquin

Graveside memorial service for Shirley Bourquin, 82, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in the Butler Cemetery with family officiating and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Shirley Lou Bourquin was born February 1, 1938 to Charley Bourqin and Alma (Horst) Bourquin in Butler, Oklahoma and passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 in the Clinton Therapy and Living Center in Clinton, OK. Shirley was raised in Butler and graduated from Butler High School and was the Valedictorian of her graduating Class. She continued her studies at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma and received her teaching degree. She taught school in Texas and Colorado and had lived the majority of her life in Colorado. She later attended Adams State University in Alamosa, CO and received a Masters Degree in Theology. Shirley was known for being very independent, intelligent and free spirited and lived life on her own terms. She had passion for reading, biblical studies and loving animals. In her later life she realized the importance of family and moved back to Clinton to be close to family. After several years of searching and studying she returned to her Christian faith and shared a very close relationship with Jesus Christ. Her last words were “I want to go Home” and soon after, she entered the gates of Heaven. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bernice Medley and Ruth Brinkley. She is survived by nephews and nieces, Mike and Kathy Brinkley, Charles and Jeanie Brinkley, Enola and Clyde Crayton, Barbara Smith and Curtis Duff and numerous great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by close friends Glenda Printz, Oscar Caballero, and Martha Nolan, all of Wetherford, OK. She loved animals and requested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Friends for Life, 290 West Commerce Road, Clinton, OK.
