Solomlon Stoneroad

March 19, 1931 — February 22, 2015

A funeral Service for Solomlon Stoneroad "White Turkey", 83, Clinton resident will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 28, 2015 in the Abundant Life Church on South 18th and Hayes, officiated by Rev. Wilfred "Bunny" Whitecrow and Rev. Lois Wilson. Burial will follow ion the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. There will be a traditional wake service, Friday, 7:00 till 10:00 P.M., at the Abundant Life Church. He was affectionately known as "John Wayne" by his family and "Stoney" with his Veterans Home family. Solomon R. Stoneroad was born March 19, 1931 to Clarence Eugene Stoneroad and Ruby (Bearshield) Stoneroad in Clinton, OK and passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He attended Clinton Schools and the Cheyenne and Arapaho Concho School at Concho, OK. He entered the U.S. Army in 1949 and became a member of the 82nd Airborne while serving in the Korean Conflict and served for three terms thereafter and was honorably discharged in January of 1963. Solemon has been a resident of the Clinton Veterans Center for the past several years. He was a proud member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe, the American Legion and V.F.W. and he was the Middle Weight Boxing Champ of the West Coast in 1956. He was a member and played in the "Soldiers" of Misfortune Band. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Rueben and Shaun Stoneroad and two brothers , Leroy and Victor Stoneroad, half-brother, Sam Rivers, Leonard and Happy Magpie, Happy woman Stoneroad and Baldwin Twins. He is survived by a sister, Eleanor Stoneroad White Crow, of Elk City, half-sisters, Mary Lou Stoneroad, and many sister cousins including Mary L Billy and Sophia A. Billy Tiger, of El Reno, OK; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
