Obituary – Terry Allison Harms Terry Allison Harms was born to Walter and Martha (Fransen) Harms on July 9, 1941, in Clinton, Oklahoma. They lived on the farm southeast of Clinton. Terry began his education at Chapel Hill School, located in the country about two miles from home. He transferred to Clinton Public Schools for second grade and attended Nance Elementary. He was active in Future Farmers of America (FFA) and graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. Terry remained an avid supporter of the Clinton Red Tornadoes and enjoyed many many ballgames watching his granddaughters. Terry attended Herold Mennonite Church with his family and was baptized there. He later became a faithful member of the First Mennonite Church of Clinton where he followed his dad’s example and served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. On February 5, 1966, Terry married Cheryle Snider at the First Methodist Church in Clinton. They began their life together in the home of Terry’s grandparents just north of the family farm. A few years later, they moved into town. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this year. Terry served his country in the Army. He was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana and Austin, Texas. While working at Production Credit Association, Terry also had a farming operation. The Bank of the West later asked Terry to serve as president. He stayed in that capacity until his retirement in 2006. Family has always been important to Terry. He participated in family gatherings, attended graduations and weddings, and frequently teased. His laughter rang whenever family gathered! Once grandchildren entered the picture, he became known as “Papa Terry” to everyone. Terry’s parents preceded him in death.
