T.N. "Pat" Rainbolt

Funeral Services for T.N. “Pat” Rainbolt, 95, Oklahoma City resident formerly of Cordell, will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 9:30 AM, in the First United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Amanda Lockwood and burial will conclude in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral home. Pat Rainbolt was born December 8, 1917 to John B. and Venda C. (Gray) Rainbolt in Cordell, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday June 22, 2013 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Pat was raised in Cordell, and was a 1938 graduate of Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO. He is a 2010 recipient of the Wentworth Military Academy Outstanding Alumnus Award. After his graduation from Wentworth, He returned to his hometown of Cordell, OK where he worked as an abstracter, farmer, and rancher. Later he was employed by Consolidated Aircraft now General Dynamics. At Consolidated, he hired production workers for the B-24 and PBY Patrol Plane. Additionally, he was the liaison between Consolidated and the Bureau of Naval Affairs ensuring key employees possessed valid security clearances. Mr. Rainbolt enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, and served as part of the 1395th Combat Engineers in Pacific Theater of Operations stationed at Okinawa, New Caledonia, New Guinea, Guadalcanal Solomon Islands, Saipan and Inchon, Korea. He was honorably discharged from service three years later as a decorated senior NCO. After his military service he returned to Cordell where he managed the family’s Washita County Abstract and Title Company. He was also elected mayor of the City of Cordell. He served as Director of the abstract company until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Rainbolt spent over 40 years in the oil and gas business, holding positions of increasing responsibility for Conoco, Union Oil of California, and Sunray Oil in Miles City, Montana. He later became Division Petroleum, Landman with Tenneco Oil Company, in Casper Wyoming, Wichita Falls, TX, and Oklahoma City culminating his career as an Independent Petroleum Landman until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Association of Petroleum Landmen. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Imajean, in 1958, an infant son in 1953, his parents, a brother, John V. “Mike” Rainbolt and a sister, Marcella English. He is survived by his wife, Anne, of the home, daughter, Patricia Long, of Aledo, TX and four sons, Rob Roy Rainbolt, Bakersfield, CA, Andy Geisler and wife, Rosalie, Yukon, OK, Curtis Rainbolt and wife, Beth, Sulphur, OK and Troy Rainbolt, of Oklahoma City, OK a brother in law, Horst Gottlieb and wife, Mia, of Karlshamn, Sweden, and a sister in law Mary Alice Rainbolt of Sun City, AZ. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Travis Ownby and wife, Karyn, of Aledo, TX, Russell Ownby and wife, Kandice, of Burleson, TX, Ryan Rainbolt, of California, Jason Geisler and wife, Beth of Cordell, Lorne Geisler and wife, Jenny, of Loyal, OK and Laura Long, Edmond; numerous step grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving support and care given to him by friends, and within the last several months by the staff and everyone at the Corn Heritage Village Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wentworth Military Academy James MacBrayer Sellers Scholarship Fund, First United Methodist Church of Cordell, OK, or Corn Heritage Village Corn, OK.
