Venita Thornhill

Venita was born September 11, 1924 to Green T. Wells and Mattie Lou (Gaston) Wells in Gracemont, Oklahoma. Venita was raised in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1942. After her high school graduation she worked for a farm office doing filing. When WWII broke out her, daddy took her to Oklahoma City where she worked at the Douglas Aircraft Plant building C-47 Airplanes, just one of the many “Rosie the Riveters”. When the War ended she moved back to Anadarko began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She married Glenn Thornhill on December 26, 1947 and they made their home in Anadarko. In 1950 they moved to Sweetwater, TX and she continued to work for Southwestern Bell but they soon returned to Anadarko in 1951. In 1953 she transferred to Clinton and then to Duncan in 1956. Mr. Thornhill came back to Clinton to work for Bill Gover, Sr. and Venita became a stay at home mom with three children and one on the way. After the children were all in school she worked for Frank Seay Airmotive, TG&Y Family Store, the Green Stamp Store and the Fashion Boutique. For the past 12 years she and her sister, Neatha Lewis have lived together in her home, In September 2019 they moved to Angelwood Assisted Living. The Thornhill’s both retired about the same time and they spent several summers in the White Mountains in Arizona wither her brother in law and sister in law. She is a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son, Keith Thornhill. She is survived by three daughters, Maureen Radke and husband, James, Clinton, Glennna Thornhill, Weatherford, Twila Owens and husband, Joe, Woodward and a daughter in law (Mrs. Keith Thornhill) Mary Thornhill, Weatherford. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Captain Joseph Radke, Alaska, Krisiti Cisneros and husband, Adam, Clinton, Hali Thornhill, Mid-West City, Jason Thornhill and wife Carmen, Yukon, Casey Owens and wife, Tessa, Fargo, and Alyssa Devine and husband, Dillon, Woodward; 12 great-grandchildren, Maddie and Avery Radke, Valek, Zade and Acelyn Cisneros, Gavin and Jaycie Thornhill, Charlie and Stevie Owens, Jody, Rylie and Miles Devine.
