Vera Carter

Funeral Services for Vera L. Carter, 90, Cordell resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, May 31, 2018 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jerry Lamb. Burial will follow in the Union Hatchett Cemetery in Bessie, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Vera Louise Carter was born April 24, 1928 to Claude Weter and Lillie (Rose) Weter in Bessie, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday May 26, 2018 in her Cordell home. Mrs. Carter was raised west of Bessie and attended Breath Wait School. She was married to Curtis Loyd Carter on February 1, 1955 in Pampa, TX. The couple made Bessie Oklahoma their home most of their married life. She helped her husband farm, working in the fields, hauling hay and worked the cattle and later she worked 13 years at the Kellwood Factory in Clinton and she also had served as Treasure for the City of Bessie for 12 years. The past few years she has been a resident of Cordell, OK. She was preceded in life by her husband in 2001; her parents and two daughters, Bonnie Dudgeon and Sherry Brock; sister, Neoma Goeringer and brother Lawrence Weter. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, hand work and in past years loved to cook. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Carter and Billy Carter and wife, Valerie, all of Cordell and sister, Sharon Snider and husband, Tommy, Clinton OK. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Mary Brock, Heather Free, Adam Brock, Curtis Carter, Colby Carter, Amber Rich, Jeremy Carter, Kelsey McCuistion, Jimmy Dudgeon, Johnny Dudgeon, Amanda Wise, Hillary Wise and Jesse Wise.
