A memorial service for Verla Geswender, 88, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel ,officiated by Patrick Peters and burial will follow at a later date in the Rest Land Cemetery in Dallas, TX. Verla Ellaween Geswender was born January 28, 1925 to Frank and Willie Mae (Lanier) Kluver in Hinton, OK and passed away early Sunday, July 14, 2013 in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, OK. Mrs. Geswender was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High school in 1943. She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. She was married to Harvey Eugene Geswender in 1947 in Clinton. He was a career man in the United States Navy and United States Air Force and they traveled extensively during his 23 year career. They returned back to Clinton for a brief period where she was employed at the Kellwood Plant and he graduated from Southwestern State College in Weatherford. Then they made their home in Dallas, TX and Mr. Geswender preceded her in death in 1980. She moved back to Clinton, OK to be close to her family in 2002. She and her husband were active in the Elks Lodge in Dallas, TX, she was an accomplished artist and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Cindy and her brother Ordell Kluver. She is survived by two sons, Kurt Geswender and wife, Hoi, Clinton and Chris Geswender and wife, Carolyn, Tucson, four grandchildren, Katrina Geswender, Clinton, OK, Eric Geswender and wife, Ann, from Houston, TX and Colby Wright and husband, Marcus, and Stacy Geswender, all of Clinton. She is also survived by two sisters, Jean “Ducky” Donelson, Arapaho, OK and Ramona Meyer, Albuquerque, NM; four nephews, Paul Kluver, Clinton, Randy Kluver, College Station, TX, Kevin Donelson, OKC, and Lance Donelson, Clinton and two nieces, Cheryl Bruce, Albuquerque, NM and Valerie Stephenson, Oakland, CA; one great- grand daughter, Max Le Wright of Clinton.
