Funeral Services for Vernette Baker, 67, Arapaho resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Clinton First Christian Church, officiated by Dr. Michael O'Donnell and Rev. Willie Coop. Burial will conclude in the Parkersburg Cemetery in Clinton. Services are under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Vernette Elaine Baker was born August 5, 1949 to Vernon L. and Lorene (Thompson) Huey in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in her home in rural Arapaho. Mrs. Baker was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1967. She was married to Mike Baker on March 24, 1967 in the Pleasant Valley Freewill Baptist Church NW of Arapaho, OK. She was employed as a secretary and receptionist for many years as well as being a full time farmer's wife. She was a member of the First Christian Church; she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren; fixing Sunday lunches and making trips to Red River and Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Sharon Mandrell, and a daughter Wendy Baker Putnam. She is survived by her husband Mike Baker, of the home, 1 son Jay Baker, and his wife Misty, of Clinton, 1 daughter Autumn Baker, of Arapaho, and 6 grandchildren, Wacey Hughes, of Weatherford, Sketchley Baker, of Clinton, Jody Hughes, of Arapaho, Jamae Hughes, of Arapaho, Charley Baker, of Clinton and Malley Baker, of Clinton. The family has suggested those wanting to make memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718
