Virginia Dean Friesen

Funeral Services for Virginia Friesen, 73, El Reno resident, will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, July 22, 2024, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Doyle Kinney. The burial will follow in the Parkersburg Cemetery west of Clinton under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, OK.


The viewing will be held 1:00 until 8:00 PM, Sunday, July 21, 2024, in the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.


Virginia Friesen was born May 3, 1951, to Ervin and Daurice Lovelace in Clinton, Oklahoma and she passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in her El Reno home with her daughter by her side.


Virginia graduated from Clinton High School in 1969 where she made countless memories driving on Main Street, hanging out at Daniel’s Drive In, or watching football games with friends. She married Richard Lloyd Friesen of Clinton, Oklahoma on June 26, 1970. They started dating in high school and were true high school sweethearts. The week of their wedding they enjoyed barbeques, skiing at Foss Lake, laughing with family and friends. It was a true celebration of a lifelong love. Lloyd and Virginia were married for 40 years. They had one daughter, Rebecca, whom they loved greatly. They also enjoyed the summers when they could make memories with family and friends at the lake.


She continued her education by going to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK and received her bachelor’s degree in education and she later earned her master’s degree. After graduating from Southwestern, they made their home in El Reno, Oklahoma.


Virginia became an educator in the El Reno Public School System. She taught second through fifth grade. She served in many collaborative roles with several wonderful educators. She also enjoyed teaching at Union City Public Schools where she worked with numerous colleagues and junior high students. She worked as an educator for 37 years. She had a love for books, and technology, which she enjoyed sharing with the children. She has taught generations of families. She truly believed that education could change a child’s future and was blessed by each student.


Virginia had numerous hobbies. She enjoyed reading, singing and technology. She traveled this wonderful country seeing landmarks, natural wonders and meeting many amazing people. Her favorite hobby was spending time with friends and family visiting, reminiscing, and laughing.


She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Friesen of El Reno, Oklahoma; sister Judy Lovelace Bauer and husband Tim of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brother in law, Michael Friesen, of Amarillo, Texas; brother in law Randy Friesen, of Amarillo, Texas; nephew Brandon and wife Cara Miller, of Leadville, Colorado; nephew, Sam Peveler, of Pampa, Texas; niece, Dana (Peveler) and husband Sajjad Anzani, of El Reno, Oklahoma; nephew Cory Walker, of Asheville, North Carolina; niece, Alicia Walker, of Asheville, North Carolina; niece, Staci (Bauer) and husband Brandon Knight of Fort Collins, Colorado; great nieces, Lily Miller, and Erin Peveler, great nephews, Casey, Jeremy and Michael Knight. She is also survived by numerous family members and friends.


Virginia was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard Lloyd Friesen, niece, Alicia Ann Miller, and Parents, Ervin and Daurice Lovelace.
