Virginia Mae Schneider

Funeral Services for Virginia Schneider, 86, former Clinton business woman, will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in the First Baptist Church, officiated by Doug Lewis and Terrell Mitchell. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home. Virginia Mae Schneider was born September 20, 1928 to Lee Cornelius and Minnie (Powers) Cornelius in Custer City, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday October 19, 2014 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, OK. Virginia was raised In the Independence area and she graduated from Independence School in 1946. She was married to Gene Schneider in 1948 in Clinton. They made their home in Clinton where she had worked for Lee Way Motor Freight, the County Assessor's Office and she established Virginia's House of Hallmark Store in 1972 and operated that until 1982. The Schneider's moved to Oklahoma City for a brief time and then moved back to Clinton in 1985. She was a member of the Junior Service League, Hospital Auxiliary, Worthwhile Club which she served as Vice President; she enjoyed needlework, reading, oil painting, playing bridge, and more than anything she loved God and her family. She was very proud of helping to organize the Independence Alumni Association in 1994 and served as secretary for over 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, her parents, and a brother, Lee Don Cornelius. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Hunter and husband, Harold, of Clinton, son, Phil Schneider and wife, Bennie Rue, of Arlington, TX, a sister, Helen Boring, of Denver, CO. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeff Hunter and wife, Kim, Chris Hunter and wife, Amanda and Aaron Hunter and wife, Amy, Matthew Schneider and wife, Sarina and Miles Schneider and wife Michelle and 10 great-grandchildren, Lynlea, Mitchell, Patrick, Blair, Craig, Reagan, Maelee, Kit, Cora and Campbell; several special friends, including BobE Gilbert, Jeannie Oaks, and Minta Maria Powers, Juanita Meacham, and Melba Ballard.
