Funeral Services for Wanda Price, 86, Cordell resident will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the Fourth and College Church of Christ, officiated by Patrick Peters and Josh Yeager and burial will conclude in the Lawnview Cemetery in Cordell, Oklahoma under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Wanda Maude Banks Price was born June 17, 1927 to W. F. Banks and Nannie Bess McNabb Banks in Rural Washita County near Port, Oklahoma and passed away January 24, 2014, at the age of 86. Wanda spent her early years in Dill City, Oklahoma. Her family moved to Cordell when she was eight years old. She graduated from Cordell Public Schools in 1945 as Salutatorian of her senior class. She attended her first semester in college on an academic scholarship at George Pepperdine in Los Angeles, California. In January 1946, she transferred to University of Oklahoma and after the spring semester of 1947, she was asked to accept her first teaching position in Cloud Chief Public Schools where she taught fifth & sixth grades and junior high and senior high girl's physical education. During this time she met the love of her life, A J Price Jr, and they were united in marriage on June 3, 1949. The family moved to Kansas in 1950 where Wanda raised three children, taught Sunday school class and served the State of Kansas as a Justice of Peace for four years. The family returned to Cordell, Oklahoma in 1962. She returned to college in September 1963 graduating in May 1965. She graduated with a major/minor in elementary education, a minor in physical education, with concentration in language arts, and she received her Master's Degree in Arts and Science. During her years of teaching, she taught at Cloud Chief 1947-1948, Port 1965-1966, Corn 1966-1968, Washita Heights 1968-1972 and Cordell 1976 retiring in May 1992. She served as a teacher's aide for seven years. Wanda coached basketball and softball at all levels. She was a fifth and sixth grade teacher. She was also a 4-H Leader. She received many honors, some of which include Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award and Chapter FFA Degree. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was a teacher with World Bible School. Wanda had a competitive spirit and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports. She was an avid Oklahoma Sooner Fan, St. Louis Cardinal's Fan and Thunder Fan. She enjoyed being around children which is evident by the career she chose and expected the best from her students. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, W F and Nannie Bess Banks; husband, A J Price Jr; son, Randal Philip Price; and brother, Joe Banks. Wanda is survived by one son, Terry Paul Price and wife Patty of Bessie, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-Law, Kathy Price of Ulysses, Kansas; one daughter, Lawana Price Reyes and husband Tommy of Cordell, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Charlie Price and wife Amber of Edmond, Oklahoma; Terry Price Jr and wife Michelle of Luther, Oklahoma; Tara Gray of Bridgeport, Oklahoma; Tod Price and wife Heather of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Jim Price and wife JaNae of Cordell, Oklahoma; Lee Delp and wife Danelle of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Joel Delp of Burns Flat and friend, Jordan Williamson of Cordell, Oklahoma; Carlos Reyes of Norman, Oklahoma; and Aaron Reyes of Clinton, Oklahoma. Wanda is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Kary Heath, Kacy Price, and Kory Price of Luther Oklahoma; Tori and Davin Gray of Cordell, Oklahoma; DeLana Price of Cordell, Oklahoma; Avery Price of Edmond, Oklahoma; Morgandee and Halle Cabaniss of Clinton, Oklahoma; and Harley Reyes of Norman, Oklahoma, and a host of family and friends.
