Celebration of Life for Mike White, 54, Arapaho resident will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the Cornerstone Church, officiated by Rev. Waylon Upchego and Rev. Gerald Panana. Burial will follow in the Concho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
A wake service will be held 7:00 p.m., till 9:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023, in the Clinton Emergency Response Center.
William Michael “Mike” White (Indian name “Hotoa’ohma’aestese” meaning Red Buffalo) was born April 23, 1968, to William Joe White and Betty Lou (Red Buffalo) White in Albuquerque, NM and passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in the Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
Mike was raised in Arapaho, OK where he graduated from high school in 1986. He was an outstanding basketball player, he played in the State Class B High School Basketball Tournament quarter finals. He competed against the future Oklahoma State University player Royce Jefferies. In 1987 he and brother Daniel played with Steve Reevis to win the Intermural Basketball Championship at Haskell Indian Junior College. He continued with his education at the El Reno Junior College and Haskell Indian Junior College.
He loved Albuquerque, NM area and lived there on several different occasions. He wanted to get back to his roots to Albuquerque, where he felt closed to his dad. His dad was from Albuquerque.
He was a member of the Hammon Pentecostal Church in Hammon, OK where he was Baptized.
He loved sports including basketball, fast-pitch softball, baseball, volleyball, and won several bowling tournaments. He was avid fans of OU sports and North Carolina Basketball. His most favorite thing to do was to terrorize his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Joe White, paternal grandparent, Richard White, Aunts and Uncles, Minnie Killsnight, Teresa Bear, Johnnie White, Amos White and maternal grandparents, Benjamin Red Buffalo and Vida Roman Nose, niece, Deven Renee Blackwolf Johnson, nephew, Shannon Blackwolf, Cousin, Gerald Red Bufalo, Nephews, Parrish Blackwolf and Khristian Blackwolf and cousin, Jeff Bearbow and Lucille (Bear) Emmert
He is survived by his mother, Betty (Red Buffalo) White, Arapaho, OK, sisters, Karen Blackwolf, Vida Birdshead, Betty Lynn Blackwolf, Danielle Blackwolf, Kerrie Blackwolf, Kellie Blackwolf, and Tracy White, brothers, Donny Joe Blackwolf and wife, Ana, Daniel Blackwolf, and wife, Dianne and Mikes companion, Mary Jo Higgins.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Avery Higgins, Kyle Higgins, Danien Higgins, Josephine Higgins and Winter Lee and six bonus grandchildren, Riley, Reagan, J.J. Skye, Marlee and Oaklyn as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
