W.L. Myers

Funeral Services for W. L. Myers, 93, long time Clinton resident and most recently from Las Vegas, Nevada, will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 21,2012 in the First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney and burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Weaver Lee "W.L." Myers, Jr., was born October 15,1918 to Weaver Lee Myers and Stella (Ray) Myers in Custer County, Oklahoma and passed away unexpectedly in his Las Vegas home during his sleep, on Tuesday, July 17,2012. W.L. was raised in the Bamitz Creek area and he attended school in Clinton and some in Phoenix, AZ and he graduated from Arapaho High School. He married Opal Ruth Snider on May 14,1938 in Stafford, OK. They had a successful farming operation and for many years he owned and operated a Water Well Drilling Company. He drilled wells up until he was ninety years old and was proud of the fact that he "never forgot a well". He has spent the last three years living in Las Vegas, Nevada to be close to his son Wade. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a granddaughter, Jillian Leigh Woodward and two sisters, Zan Reta Scarce and Mickey Van Alstine. He was a long time faithful and active member of the First Christian Church, he has worked long and hard hours most of his life but the last three years he has enjoyed the extra time and special times he had with his grandchildren. Since living in Las Vegas he has learn to gamble and his favorite game was "Let It Ride". He is survived by his son, Wade Myers and his wife Lynn, of Las Vegas, Nevada and a daughter, Marilyn Kay Able and husband, Ellis, Enid, OK, a sister, Yvonne Fransen, Clinton and a brother, Clifford Myers and wife, Mille, Paso Robles, CA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and special friends, Lanny and Jo Ann Woodall and their family. The family has suggested those wishing to give a memorial contribution may do so to the First Christian Church's "kitchen re-modeling fund".
